What Sydney Read

In late 2025, I came across the story and life of Dan Pezler. In a notebook, he recorded every book he read starting in 1962, amassing over 3,000 reads. The public library where he checked out the majority of his reads spotlighted his life and passing on social media, sharing that his family put together a website to go through his reading list. It was a beautiful gift for the family and the library to share (you can find his website here) and brought me back to one of my favorite things to think about: how personal reading is.

I’ve always returned to how unique our reading journeys are as individuals; how incredibly unlikely it is that the words and stories that shaped me would match up exactly with anyone else. Below you’ll find the archive of my reads across my life, to the best of my ability.
